About Me

I’m Kate Mercer. I’m a rancher who believes good records are part of good livestock management, but keeping those records shouldn’t become a full-time job of its own.

I work with cattle, horses, goats, and sheep, so I understand that different animals and different operations have different needs. I like tools that are straightforward, dependable, and stay out of the way while the real work gets done.

That’s why I became part of the Today’s Rancher family. I represent the rancher’s side of the conversation: what information matters, how people actually work with their animals, and whether technology is genuinely making the job easier.

Mission Statement

I want to help make livestock recordkeeping less complicated and more useful. My role is to help people understand how Today’s Rancher can support the work they already do—not tell them how to run their ranch.
I also want to listen. Every livestock operation works a little differently, and when someone says, “I wish Today’s Rancher could…,” I want to hear the rest of that sentence. Those conversations help shape where the software goes next.

The barn is built. We’re still adding stalls.

Company Description

Today’s Rancher Desktop is Windows livestock-management software designed for people who raise and manage cattle, horses, goats, and sheep.

It provides straightforward tools for maintaining animal information and related records, including medical care, feeding, movements, breeding and insemination, births, purchases, sales, locations, breeds, and other day-to-day livestock information. It also includes reporting and built-in backup and restore tools.

Today’s Rancher stores ranch information locally on the user’s computer rather than requiring a cloud subscription. The current desktop release is the foundation of a product that will continue to grow through ongoing development and feedback from the people using it.
